چکیده
Abstract. The northern margin of the Ligurian Basin shows notable seismicity at Alpine front, including frequent magnitude 4 events. Seismicity decreases offshore towards centre and Corsica, revealing a diffuse distribution low-magnitude earthquakes. We analyse data amphibious AlpArray seismic network with focus on component, ocean bottom seismometer (OBS) network, consisting 24 broadband OBSs deployed for 8 months, to reveal depth micro-earthquakes beneath Sea. Two clusters occurred between ∼ 10 km 16 below sea surface, within lower crust uppermost mantle. Thrust faulting focal mechanisms indicate compression an inversion Basin, which is abandoned Oligocene–Miocene rift basin. basin suggested be related Africa–Europe plate convergence. locations suggest reactivation pre-existing rift-related structures. Slightly different striking directions presumed faults in compared further east hence away from may reflect counter-clockwise rotation Corsica–Sardinia block. High mantle S-wave velocities low Vp/Vs ratio support hypothesis strengthening during rifting-related extension thinning continental crust.

Time Drift of Ocean Bottom Seismometers (obs)
During the past decades, Ocean Bottom Seismometers (OBS) have played a key role in permanent seismic activity monitoring at sea as well as allowing a better understating of the earth interior. Data collected by the instrument can provide information on the ocean bottom sub-layers down to a depth of 40 km beneath the ocean floor. The accuracy of the results directly depends on the time drift of ...

متن کاملDetermining the orientations of ocean bottom seismometers using ambient noise correlation
[1] The cross-correlation of multicomponent ambient seismic noise can reveal both the velocity and polarization of surface waves propagating between pairs of stations. We explore this property to develop a novel method for determining the horizontal orientation of ocean bottom seismometers (OBS) by analyzing the polarization of Rayleigh waves retrieved from ambient noise crosscorrelation. We de...
متن کاملImaging ocean-basin reverberation via inversion
A technique for imaging large areas of the ocean floor by inverting reverberation data is presented. Acoustic returns measured on a horizontally towed line array have fight-left ambiguity about the array's axis and decreasing cross-range resolution for off-broadside beams and more distant scattering sites. By optimal use of data taken with differing array locations and orientations, fight-left ...
متن کاملTrajectory Sonar Perception in the Ligurian Sea
This paper describes a new technique for tracking locally curved unknown objects using sonar. The approach explicitly accounts for relevant robot dynamics. Objects are tracked by looking for temporal sequences of observations that fit a kinematic model. The method is illustrated using data from a synthetic aperture sonar gathered by a BPAUV at NATO SACLANT’s GOATS 2002 experiment in the Liguria...
